SNORKELING ADVENTURE Salty, but sweet.
( 5 stars )

I’M IN A FLIP FLOP STATE OF MIND

2 Hour Snorkeling Safari at Cape Vidal, iSimangaliso Wetland Park

CAPE VIDAL SNORKELING SAFARI

Guests must make their own way to Cape Vidal.
See iSimangaliso Wetland Park gate times and entry fees.
The meeting point is at the small fuel station in Cape Vidal Resort.
Meeting times vary as this activity is tide dependent. Snorkeling Adventures are run from 6am to 4pm.

Cape Vidal is 32km North of St Lucia town.
The drive through the Eastern Shores of iSimangaliso Wetland Park will take you a minimum of 1 hour. The animal viewing along the way is great so be sure to give yourself enough time.

When arriving in Cape Vidal Resort, keep driving past the shop, camp site and reception till you see the beach for the first time on your left.
From here, drive another 100 meters and you will see the basic little fuel station on your right. Your friendly guides will be awaiting you here.

After meet and greet, we make our way to the top of the dunes for a safety pre-briefing.
Equipment will be handed out there.
Equipment includes a silicone mask, snorkel, fins and a rash vest.

After briefing we head to the water for 1 to 1.5 hours where we point out species of interest.
We always have a torpedo buoy with us in the water as safety is our biggest priority.
On average we see about 50 different fish species.

Sightings can include moonies, blacktail, tropical halfbeak, damsel, convict surgeons, rubberlips, rockod, indian and rosy goatfish, karanteen, sand steenbras, lemonfish, rectangular triggerfish, butterflyfish, moorish idol and semisircle angelfish.
On lucky days we also get to see green turtles, marbled electric rays, spotted eagle rays, octopus and honeycomb moray eels.

After the snorkeling adventure, we page through the fish id book, identifying the fish we have seen, while drinking a lovely cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

No guarantee
We cannot guarantee that you will snorkel on the day of your tour.
Snorkeling is dependent on weather, tides and the intensity of ocean currents.
