Food you MUST eat in St Lucia
We made a list of the most delicious food that you have to try in St Lucia. Although you will know some of the dishes, we tried and found the places in St Lucia that is worth visiting for it.
BRAAIVLEIS
Braaivleis is meat grilled on an open fire. In South Africa there is nothing like a South African braai with a beer and friends gathering around an open fire. The people of South Africa love braai so much that many South Africans have “declared” South Africa’s Heritage Day, National Braai day. With your braaivleis, be sure to have some “braai broodjies”. It is basically a sandwich with cheese, tomato and onion, grilled on an open fire. Or “pap en sous”, made from course ground maize with a chunky tomato and onion sauce.
When visiting St Lucia and you cannot make your own braai, feel free to ask your lodge manager for a braai. The accommodation establishments in St Lucia would love to make a braai for you.
KOEKSISTERS
A koeksister is a deep fried dough braided into the signature twisted koeksister look, covered in a sweet syrup.
